Fan Letters: “We have to get a striker in, and it needs to be Kieffer Moore!”

Sunderland clearly need to sign another striker, and RR reader Lewis says that it has to be Kieffer Moore! Got something to say? Email us:

Dear Roker Report,

Hi, from the start, nobody has been happy with the appointment of Beale! However, it’s something we have to get over whether he is poor or not; we have to at least see if he fails!

This is not his squad; these are the players he’s been given, and if we carry on, we will become even more toxic.

January is a make-or-break month! Striker, experienced Center Midfielder.

I was happy with Tony Mowbray; we were up there with a team with no striker that could score credit to the rest of the lads! We have to get a striker in, and he has to be Kieffer Moore; he’s a big striker that will be an outlet for our team! Hopefully, it happens!

Haway the lads!

Dear Roker Report,

I am in favour of a coach rather than a manager, but whether this coach remains to be seen. The jury is still out, but Beale hasn’t made a great start. He said he was going to give Rusyn a run of games, then immediately left him out at Ipswich. He said that Jobe and Pritchard were playing as attackers, but everyone could see they were in midfield. Pritchard is too small and weak to control midfield, and Jobe is one placed, and neither are suited to playing up-front. Please give Hemir and Rusyn a chance to play up-front together and get the ball into the box to see what they can do. Fans will not put up with Beale for very long if he just continues to play the team as Mowbray did. We need to attack quicker and get shots on target. Two more hard games coming up where we could be well off the pace for a play-off place. I’d give Beale a maximum of 6 games to put his stamp on things.

Dear Roker Report,

Get KLD and Speakman out of our club; they are penny-pinching everywhere, and it’s not acceptable for us supporting the club. Get the French clown out and take Speakman with you. Tony Mowbray’s red and army, we hate Beale!

Dear Roker Report,

Here’s a great quiz question.

Q. Who was the last Sunderland manager that fans were delighted to see appointed?

A. I can’t think of any in recent times.

I understand that many fans were not happy to see Mowbray go, but having made that decision who did we seriously expect to come in? Of all the candidates mentioned, Beale’s reputation in the game and his stats were the best (successful everywhere he’s been involved, including a 72% win rate at Rangers). So the only reason to dislike him seems to be that no one had him on their list, and he’s a cockney!

Promotion this season is not essential, and never was, even under Mowbray. And for anyone saying, so why sack Mowbray, that’s not Beale’s fault. Give him time, then judge him on a number of games, the rest of this season, not 5 or 6.

Dear Roker Report,

It’s not often I get so worked up I have to write in twice in 2 days!

I read somewhere today that Beale is like one of the dementors from the Harry Potter stories, sucking the joy out of watching our team.

I don’t disagree with this, as there seems to be no passion whatsoever from this coach. Remember Di Canio’s knee slide against the Mags! He seems to talk the talk and speak in riddles and then blames the players for the errors in tactics and the team he picked.

On Saturday, our away fans were screaming, “We want a striker!” And they did eventually get 2 on the pitch with 2 minutes left. Not ideal, and they weren’t going to change the game at that late stage.

Now I have been critical of Abdoullah Ba in the past, but why take him off when he was having a decent game?

I have watched and supported the Lads since 1967, and I can’t remember a more faceless manager-coach than this one. As I have said before, the jury is out, but I am beginning to think this is not going to end well.

Oh dear!
