Fan Letters: RR reader Matty asks ‘is it time to get Corry Evans into the starting lineup?’

Should our team captain be in the first XI? Meanwhile, the club shop continues to be a source of frustration!

Dear Roker Report,

After reading that the club shop was open today [ed: this letter was submitted on Friday] before tomorrow’s game, I decided to pop over to the stadium for a browse, as did quite a few other people. Surprise surprise, SAFC shoot themselves in the foot again as the shutters were still down with no explanations from the guy in reception, just a shrug of his shoulders.

Mark Richardson

Ed’s Note [Martin]: Thanks for the email, Mark. While we thankfully seem to have the football side of things working at last, the ‘off the field’ stuff at the club continues to leave a lot to be desired, doesn’t it. Apparently the club shop did a roaring trade on Saturday, so hopefully it’s given people pause for thought.

Dear Roker Report,

Is it time to get Corry Evans into the starting lineup?

I’m just not sure who we’d drop, but feel like we’re better when he plays.

With such a young team, we need experience to keep them right.

Matty Taylor

Ed’s Note [Martin]: I think you’re right, Matty, but the question is who do you drop? For me, both Dan Neil and Luke O’Nien have been excellent in the centre of midfield so far this season, but Corry Evans does add a lot when he plays – and he’s certainly not joined to be on the bench. Maybe Dan Neil could play as the more attacking midfielder, but then it creates a problem in selecting two from McGeady, Embleton, Gooch, Pritchard, Dajaku and Broadhead! Good problems to have though.

Dear Roker Report,

Can I just say I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your lads record the podcast live in the Hilton Garden bar after the game on Saturday. As an exiled avid listener it was a rare experience being able to hear one recorded in the flesh (Even if I was earwigging!).

Best SAFC Podcast bar non. Well done to all concerned as I know myself and many others really appreciate what you do to keep our fans entertained

Chris Grimmer

Ed’s Note [Martin]: Thanks a lot for the email and the kind words, Chris. It’s nice to be able to have the ‘Pubcast’ back this season after having to remote record them last season. Next time, come and say hello!
