Sean Brown predicts... Sunderland to win 4-0!
Palace will be looking to restore some confidence following losing an early lead to London City last weekend - a disappointing result for manager Davenport after their pretty eventful opening day win over Bristol City - and they’ll likely be hoping home advantage will help as the Lasses come calling this Sunday.
Unfortunately for them, Mel Reay’s side are brimming with confidence already, with two consecutive clean sheets for our Clauds and some stellar performances across the pitch launching them to the top of the championship table. I’m doubtful the Eagles will put a dent in our promotion hopes - I know it’s early to be making such statements but I just can’t escape the feeling this is very much our season.
Speaking of statements...
I’m hoping for another goal from rising star Neve Herron this Sunday, as well as another from Ramshaw on her return, all wrapped up with a lovely little brace from Farrugia as the Lasses come away from Selhurst with all 3 points and yet another clean sheet.
Ant Waterson predicts... a 3-1 win for the Lasses
Palace have conceded 6 goals and scored 5 this season already so I don’t think this will be a boring 0-0 somehow. Sunderland will benefit from playing on a bid stadium again and it will give us a chance to get our wide players in.
For me, if Ramshaw is fit, she should start the game. Mel Reay has a wonderful selection headache ahead of her. I think we will continue our good start with a 3 2 victory with Farrugia, Heron and Kelly the goalscorers.
Katie Hume predicts... 2-1 win, plain and simple
Their confidence is high going into the game, so I’m predicting a 2-1 win!

Graeme Field Predicts... 3-1 away victory for the Lady Black Cats
We move onto our third league game of the season and the team are doing very well so far.
With two wins under their belt, you wouldn’t bet against a third. Palace will be looking to bounce back from their 2-1 away defeat to London City Lionesses. Watching the highlights of the game it was only the brilliance of Palace goalkeeper Orman that prevented a heavy defeat. Hopefully, skipper Keira Ramshaw will be fit to start the game as the strong and skillful player will cause the Palace rearguard problems. The Lionesses caused them issues in wide areas, so both Joice and Brown will hopefully feature strongly.
With Claudia Moan having kept two consecutive clean sheets, she’ll have her work cut out to keep another. The lasses have such a strong backline though that it wouldn’t be a great surprise if they did. The team were at it from the off last week and it would be unusual if manager Mel Reay moved away from that approach.
I feel the experience of Emma Kelly will be vital in this match. She’ll look to dictate the pace of the game. I’m going to go for a 3-1 win for Sunderland Ladies. Why not?
Gav predicts... 1-0 victory for Sunderland
It feels like there’s momentum running right through the club right now - and with so much good feeling surrounding SAFC Ladies at present, I’d back them to get a result against anyone.
The Lasses were missing arguably their most influential player last weekend yet managed to beat a very decent side, which shows how much quality they have in their ranks.
I fancy another win - a bit closer, but a 1-0 victory, with Keira Ramshaw scoring on her return.
Rich Speight predicts... An exciting 2-2 draw
Sunderland’s form so far this season, playing lovely football and not conceding goals, coupled with how many Palace have been leaking at the back, did have me all full of confidence.
But then I looked at the Palace squad and spoke to a couple of their fans, and despite their defeat last week it’s going to be our toughest test so far. We’re a long way from home, they’ll surely get a boost from being at Selhurst Park.
So, they tend to score early, so I think it will probably be a high-scoring draw - 2-2 is my prediction, which would be a decent result for us.
I can see Emma Kelly getting her first of the season for Sunderland and Maria Farrugia - who could have had two against Blackburn Rovers, getting the other. They’ve got some real talent on the pitch, including WSL loanees, and Championship experience.
