Sunderland are in talks over a deal to sign exciting German youth international Leon Dajaku before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, Roker Report understands.
The club had been strongly linked with an unnamed winger from Bayern Munich in recent days on forums and social media and, after a little digging, we understand Dajaku to be the player in question.
Dajaku joined Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin on an 18-month loan deal in January from Bayern Munich, with Urs Fischer’s side having an option to make the deal permanent but Dajaku’s time at the club has been filled with misfortune.
Dajaku has suffered with a foot injury, Covid-19 and, earlier this month, an appendectomy since joining Union and has only featured twice in the Bundesliga for the club, who are now looking to find a buyer for the 20-year-old.
Dajaku has featured twice in the Bundesliga in each of the last three seasons, with Union, Bayern and also with Stuttgart who he left to join Bayern Munich. He also has experience of the German third tier thanks to his time with Bayern Munich II.
He is currently on the stand-by list for the German u-20 squad for the current round of international fixtures.
