Sunderland have made contact with Liverpool over their Scottish left-back Tony Gallacher, according to reports.
The Liverpool Echo report that talks are ongoing over a potential loan deal, but with a possible permanent transfer also on the agenda as talks continue between the two clubs.
Lee Johnson is keen to add at least one left-back to his side, with Denver Hume yet to re-sign, he only has Tyrese Dyce at his disposal and Dan Neil was utilised as a makeshift left-back during the 4-0 friendly win over Harrogate Town.
Gallacher has made one first team appearance for Liverpool, in their 5-0 League Cup defeat to Aston Villa when Jurgen Klopp’s first team were in Qatar for the Club World Cup, although he also played against Fleetwood and Accrington Stanley in the EFL Trophy during the 19/20 season.
The 22-year-old Scottish youth international signed for Liverpool from Falkirk for a fee of £200,000 in January 2018 after a successful start to his career where the left-back picked up six assists in just 26 games for the Scottish outfit before Liverpool swooped.
Gallacher has also had a spell on loan at MLS side Toronto in the 2020 season, playing 10 times for the Canadian club.
