Roker Riches: What are the lads betting on this crucial Easter weekend?

The hot picks and top tips from the Roker Report betting squad - what bets have you got on for this long weekend of footy?

The Rolling Table: Season 2020-2021

Yellow card update...

Three of the lads missed the cut-off time for bets this week, so they all get a yellow card and a tenner penalty. That error has pushed Bomber down to the bottom of the table, though you could still throw a blanket over everyone from third to last.

In respect of bet wins last week, no wins at all for any of us so the yellow card losses have really had an impact. A few betting enthusiasts could do with an alarm being set, methinks...

Banker’s Bonus...

All punters gain an extra tenner bet this week after the somewhat scruffy win versus Bristol. Three points it was though and as we run in many feel that’s the main thing, and going away to Mr Barton’s sides is always a challenge.

No bankers bonus option for this week due to the previous win. Hopefully, we can do well with the extra coinage this crucial weekend.

This Week’s Bets:

Matty Crichton says...

Sunderland to win and both teams to score: Given the firepower that Posh possess going forward I think Lee Johnson’s side will concede, but I’m confident we will win the match. £5 returns £30

League One Treble: Hull to mount the pressure on Sunderland by beating struggling Northampton, Oxford to continue their playoff push by defeating Accrington, plus Danny Cowley’s reformed Portsmouth to beat Wigan. £5 returns £25.35

Bankers bonus: Aiden McGeady to score first against Posh on Monday. Cometh the hour, cometh the main man. Tenner pays £85

Luke ‘Bomber’ Davies says...

Slim Pickings Saturday - With the packed Easter schedule book-ending the bank holiday weekend, Saturday options are limited. Not wanting to miss the opportunity of losing another £10 however, I’ve had a look at the form and cobbled together a treble that offers some value for favourite backers; Leeds, Brentford, Hearts to win. £5 returns £25.77

Sunderland Machine keeps chugging on. We are the Sun’lun... the mighty Sun’lun.... and we should be confident going into every game and of getting something. Monday’s clash against Peterborough is massive.... we’ll take a draw, and so will I.... Sunderland 1 - Peterborough 1 correct score. £5 returns £30

Bankers Bonus - Something for the weekend. Hopefully the bankers bonus will be a free hit at something to last the whole bank holiday with a 1 leg per day special; Saturday - Borussia Dortmund, Sunday - Atletico Madrid, Monday - Hull. £5 returns £49.40

Phil Butler says...

Sunderland to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1. I’m backing Sunderland to win in what is the main game of the Easter weekend versus Posh, however, I’m slightly less confident of a clean sheet than I normally am but still wouldn’t be surprised if we managed to keep one. Hopefully, this is a low-risk bet that covers all options. £5 returns £17.50.

European Saturday Four-fold. Since two Sunderland games sandwich the weekend, I’m picking one bet each from Saturday and Sunday. Starting on Saturday, I’m taking one pick from each of the other top five leagues starting with Villarreal to beat Granada in Spain, Lyon to beat Lens in France, Mainz to beat Bielefield in Germany and Roma to beat Sassuolo in Italy. £5 returns £68.82.

Bankers Bonus Sunday Treble. With snow supposedly headed to the North East this Easter weekend, I’m heading over the channel with both of my additional bets this week. Starting in France with Rennes to beat Reims and St Etienne to beat Nimes before heading to Spain for Betis to win away at Elche. £10 returns £82.78

Paul Fletcher says...

Sunderland to win 4-0: I’m confident we can get the three points but not so confident we’ll do it this emphatically. However, I’ve made a plan and I’m seeing it through until the bitter end. Sunderland hammering one of their closest promotion rivals and me winning a 50/1 bet at the same time would be a happy Monday indeed.

Elite European Eightfold: Loads of games to choose from today and I’ve picked eight winners that look good on paper (don’t they always). For a 20/1 triumph, I need wins for Chelsea, Real Madrid, Atalanta, Lazio Juventus, Dortmund, Wolfsburg and Monaco. £5 returns £107.40.

Bankers Bonus - Goals on Sunday. If (when) picking winners doesn’t work today, then it makes sense to switch to a BTTS bet tomorrow. I’ll be celebrating a 10/1 winner if I can avoid a clean sheet in the games between Aston Villa & Fulham, Cadiz & Valencia, Lorient & Brest and Stuttgart & Werder Bremen. £10 returns £110.25.

Malc Dugdale says...

Big Sam Special - I think Sam has enough about him to frustrate Chelsea with the Baggies getting a draw this weekend. Decent odds of 5-1, so a fiver returns £30.

Sunday top up triple - the coffers are getting low so I’m going for a treble of high likelihood wins with poor odds, hoping it comes in for an okay top up on my kitty. Spurs, Man Utd and Rangers all to win Sunday. Fiver pays £14.15.

Bankers bonus - Sunderland to win at Posh BTTS - I’d take 4 points from the two Easter games, and after beating Oxford this may not be as attacking a game for us, but there should be goals and if we take all three points we are in the autos. Tenner pays £70.

Danny Roberts says...

Sunderland to lose vs Posh: Don’t hate me, but I just expect it as a Sunderland fan. £5 returns £13.50.

League One Trio: I’m fancying Hull, Burton and Oxford all to pick up three points on Monday. £15 returns £86.31 (using bankers bonus to boost this bet).

Riches Readers’ Random Pick...

Sunderland to beat Posh 1-0 away - this could be a tight affair, and this was the score at the SOL so it sort of makes sense it may happen again - could this be a decent random pick for the readers? Twenty quid pays £150, doubling up the bet with the bankers bonus.

Good luck to Sunderland and to all our fellow punters this weekend, and let’s hope our Easter weekend points return maintains and reinforces our promotion hopes.

Please remember to gamble responsibly, and enjoy your weekend.
