Sunderland linked with Brighton youngster
Sunderland have been linked with a move for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Marc Leonard, who is set to leave the Seagulls at the end of the season.
The Scottish youth international is out of contract in the summer and has not been offered a new deal by Brighton, leading to the Daily Record to claim that Sunderland and Swansea City are interested in signing the 19-year-old.
Leonard has featured in the Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy for the Premier League outfit without making his debut for Graham Potter’s senior side, and is now weighing up interest from both Sunderland and Swansea, as well as a potential return north of the border where he once featured for Hearts’ youth set-up.
Sunderland pipped to starlet
Club Brugge signed Venezuelan starlet Daniel Perez in the January transfer window from Metropolitanos FC and placed him in Club NXT, the Belgian club’s ‘B’ team who play in the Belgian Second Division.
The 19-year-old did not take long to impress, as he has already made his full debut for the club’s first team, making regular appearances off the bench in the Belgian First Division.
His father spoke to La Derniere Heure about the move and his son’s career so far and revealed that Club Brugge had to beat off competition from both Sunderland and Serie A side Atalanta to secure the striker’s signature.
Cisse finds new club
Former Sunderland striker Djibril Cisse has signed for American fourth tier outfit Panathinaikos Chicago. The 39-year-old will link up with the NSPL side ahead of the new season, the 14th club of his long career.
