Graeme’s Player Ratings: Sunderland lose to London City as performance doesn’t match the result!

A two-nil defeat for Sunderland in a game that could have gone either way. Here’s how Graeme rated the performances yesterday?

Allison Cowling 6/10

No chance with the first goal and unlucky that when she punched clear that it fell to the feet of a London forward for the second. Didn’t have a lot to do, but what she did have to do, she did it well. Excellent communication throughout.

Faye Mullen 7/10

Part of a defence that is uncompromising and solid, but hugely talented too. Defended well and got forward to good effect.

Louise Griffiths 6/10

Another solid performance from the most improved player in the squad. Solid as a rock and tough in the tackle.

Grace McCatty 7/10

She’s had an excellent season so far and was very good again today. Must be like running into a brick wall getting tackled by her.

Charlotte Potts 7/10

Another good performance from Potts. Plenty of movement to contend within the first half, which she dealt with well.

Neve Herron 7/10

An all action display from the youngster. Not sure where she gets the energy from. As well as doing the defensive side of things well, she caused London problems with her movement.

Emma Kelly 7/10

I’ve not seen her have a bad game. Keeps the play ticking over and is good on set pieces. Proving to be an astute signing.

Abbey Joice 7/10

Superb in recent weeks and another tenacious performance in midfield. Getting better as the season goes on.

Keira Ramshaw 6/10

She was quite quiet today, but some flashes to remind you of why she is a Sunderland legend.

Jess Brown 6/10

Like Ramshaw, some flashes to remind the fans how good she is. She’s a cracking player, but she’ll have better days.

Emily Scarr 7/10

She led the line well and never stopped running. Broke dangerously on a number of occasions, but we found it difficult to get enough players up in support with her.

Subs:

Holly Manders 6/10

She’s another player who has been good in recent weeks. Sunderland dominated after she came on.

Eve Blakey 6/10

Worked hard when she came on. She’s going to keep getting better, the more time she gets on the pitch.
