Lee Johnson is set to make his second signing as Sunderland manager, with Rangers winger Jordan Jones set to follow Carl Winchester through the door.
The Daily Mail report that the 26-year-old will sign for Sunderland on loan for the rest of the season after failing to make an appearance for Steven Gerrard’s side since he was banned for seven games following a breach of Covid protocols back in November.
Due to the lengthy ban, he has only featured four times for Rangers this season and 15 times the previous season, as he recovered from a knee injury but was a star player for Kilmarnock before signing for Rangers.
Jones had previously been a target for Sunderland while he was at Kilmarnock, during Jack Ross’ time at the club, before he opted to move to Ibrox.
Following the arrival of Jones, Johnson is still hoping to add a left-back and a striker to his squad.
