Roker Report can exclusively reveal that Arbenit Xhemajli is set to sign a contract with the club, after arriving back in England yesterday.

Sources directly close to the player and the club have told us that the defender will pen a deal with the club over the weekend and join up with Phil Parkinson and the rest of the team next week.

Xhemajli had previously impressed during his trial game for the Lads against Gateshead, prompting Parkinson and the club to push forward with a deal for the 22-year-old.

The defender was extremely impressed by the club and its facilities during his brief spell at the club and has jumped at the chance of making a move to the club.

Xhemajli is Sunderland’s fifth signing of the summer, joining Bailey Wright, Aiden O’Brien, Morgan Feeney and Remi Matthews at the Stadium of Light.
