Left sided forward Aiden O’Brien has joined Sunderland on a free transfer following his release by Championship side Millwall, signing a two year deal.
The 26-year-old - who plays the same position as Lynden Gooch - will add competition out wide as Phil Parkinson looks to launch an early assault on the rest of League One as we bid for promotion out of the third tier at the third attempt.
He has League One promotion experience on his CV too, playing his part in Millwall’s play-off win over Bradford at Wembley back in 2017.
O’Brien has played four times for the Republic of Ireland, scoring one goal, and has been a regular for Millwall in the Championship ever since making his breakthrough in 2014 under Ian Holloway.
Check out this video posted by Millwall to announce his departure, and read the comments - it would seem fans of his old club were sad to see him leave, which is always a good sign.
