Fan Letters: Reader asks, “Why does Parky insist that Wyke is the answer up front?”

Today’s Fan Letters discuss Charlie Wyke’s role in the team, while another reader has a question about a Phil Parkinson talk-in. Send us your thoughts: RokerReport@yahoo.co.uk!

Dear Roker Report,

Why does Parky insist that Wyke is the answer up front he cannot hold the ball up ,win balls played up to him, attack corners because he cannot jump , easy bullied off the ball by smaller players, never closes players down , gives cheap free kicks away barging into players , shows no energy. The whole division know what to expect from him, our players around him need him to do this to help team out instead of hiding and stealing a living. please let us see a more mobile athletic type centre forward starting we have one sitting on bench and coming on with little time to affect the game, please parky no more starts we’ve seen enough of him to know he is not good enough to get us promoted.

We live in hope.

Jeff Angus

Ed’s Note [Tom]: There have been a good few articles on the site examining Wyke’s woes. I think in the right system he’s a decent striker at this level, but I’m not sure he’s the back to goal target man Parkinson’s system needs in order to be successful. You’d maybe need to sacrifice a central defender and play someone in and around Wyke to help get the best out of his play - I’m not sure that’s what is best for the team, though.

Dear Roker Report,

Can anyone explain the process for the Parkinson talk in later this week - is it being live streamed by the club or will you be live tweeting please any key bits?

Thanks,

Chris Iddon

Ed’s Note [Gav]: Hi Chris - I don’t believe that the club are live-streaming it, but you can imagine that the fans in attendance and some members of the press will be there and tweeting about what has been said.
