A report in US-based outlet Bloomberg.com claims Sunderland are hoping to find a buyer for the club by the end of the month.
The report says ‘people with knowledge of the matter’ have told Bloomberg that Stewart Donald is looking for £40m for the sale of the club and that the Sunderland chairman is currently in serious talks with two potential buyers.
While looking for a price tag of £40m, the current club owners have told prospective buyers that Sunderland could be worth as much as £250m in the future if they are able to return to the Premier League.
Donald intensified efforts to sell up at the end of 2019 after fan-led groups put out a statement urging him to find a buyer for the club after ‘trust had been eroded.’
