Dear Roker Report,
As you can see by my email address I am a Bolton Wanderers supporter and I have deepest sympathy with what your club is going through having that clown in charge.
He played the same way with us for two seasons and look were it got us. He has no idea of how to attack or defend has no ‘Plan B’ never mind his ‘Plan A’ being any good. If these managers persist in getting jobs then its god help us all. The old ways are dead the foreign managers have better ideas I admit saying, but let’s bred some new young blooded managers like your own Kevin Phillip’s give them time to get it in place.
We were all for our new manager to get sacked after six games but he has turned it around because the board had belief in him
So good luck with Parky, we wont see you in League One next year as we will pass you on the way down as we go up to League One hoping.
Oh and I have supported the trotters since 1973 so not a mickey mouse fan.
Derek Atkinson
Ed’s Note [Chris]: Thanks for the thought Derek, I’m sure a lot of people reading this will agree with the lack of a ‘Plan B’ and that our ‘Plan A’ isn’t the strongest either. Something has to change whether it’s Parkinson changing his ways or Sunderland changing our manager.
Dear Roker Report,
I can’t understand why Stewart Donald doesn’t terminate Phil Parkinson’s contract. Unless it’s the £1 million payoff he might receive.
And yet if SD persists in keeping him, the team is going to drop further down the league and hence the value of the club will also drop! So he will receive even less for his share.
A good manager would have Sunderland climbing the league (even reaching the playoffs) and thus increase the clubs value! Simples!!!
Me thinks that SD hasn’t even got any small change left for a payoff. Oh yes did the £20 million loan have any interest rate?
Michael Hayes
Ed’s Note [Chris]: I think everyone would be surprised if anything happened in terms of any decision on Phil Parkinson’s future until a takeover of some kind either happens or completely falls through. Hopefully, either way that will be sooner rather than later.
Dear Roker Report,
I don’t think Donald wants Sunderland in the championship - he hasn’t enough money if he cant afford to buy a couple of decent players at this level.
It says it all and we get the same old take over stories with a billionaire in the background when season ticket time comes round. What a shame the owner is not a football man just a business man who saw an opportunity
Roger Stokell
Ed’s Note [Chris]: Stewart Donald tried to push the boat out in his first season as chairman with the Will Grigg deal and that was the beginning of the end for him as owner. The club is treading water until there’s a change at the top and someone who doesn’t require a profit from purchasing the club would be ideal.
Dear Roker Report,
The man is one of the worst managers to ever be at the helm of Sunderland. He has limited tactical ability, does not trust or inspire the youth that could step up. He has drained the club of all morale and inspiration. He should go, the sooner the better.
David Rothwell
Ed’s Note [Chris]: Can’t disagree with any of that David. I didn’t think he was for the man for the job when he was first appointed and nothing that has happened since has convinced me otherwise.
Dear Roker Report,
I have watched Sunderland through thick and thin since 1967. This has to be the most boring team ever. If we get a corner or a freekick near the opposition penalty area we now seem to be determined to pass it back to our own goalkeeper!
In fact I am surprised that if we get a penalty we don’t pass that back as well!
Clearly Parkinson is absolutely clueless when it comes to tactics or substitutions. Last week we had the opportunity to play five subs we used two, one in the 92nd minute, a defensive option which totally failed and Doncaster ended up equalising!
Under Parkinson we only seem to be able to pass the ball sideways or backwards there is never any attacking intent. We were lucky to get a goal from 25 yards last week and obviously Parkinson then instructed the team to play for a one nil win.
This mindset is totally wrong and the fans are not happy with this at all. From the beginning of time it has always been necessary to score at least three goals to win the match. Playing for a one nil win is sheer and utter stupidity.
I am with everyone else in that Parkinson should be sacked immediately in the best interests of this club. If rumours are to be believed and Nigel Pearson is available we should take that opportunity now and sign him up.
Parkinson came up with some nonsense the other week and that 34 crosses were delivered into the box and chances should’ve been converted. Unfortunately none of the crosses were anywhere near our players who were probably in our own half at the time as we play so defensively!
I could go on and on but will only become more exasperated. All I can say is roll on the new ownership and hopefully new manager. It is very difficult to keep the faith with this team at this point.
I am very frustrated fan who really would appreciate a refund for all the TV matches I have paid for this season for the absolute dross which has been served up. All I can envisage at the moment is another few seasons in league one!
Phillip R Wright
Ed’s Note [Chris]: I don’t mind Sunderland keeping hold of the ball and dominating possession, but there has to be something at the end of it. Too many times this season we have a period of possession and there’s no end product at the end of it.
There are no players committing to get forward, and we look toothless in the final third. Unless something changes I’m not sure there will be too many people desperate to watch this team in person.
