Details finally emerged on Sunderland’s prospective takeover on Friday afternoon, with the Guardian exclusively revealing that Juan Sartori would be heading a consortium with Kyril Louis-Dreyfus that would see the pair control 80% of the club - with Stewart Donald owning 15% and Charlie Methven retaining his 5% share.
French sports paper L’Equipe have given more details on the move in the print edition of today’s newspaper.
They say that the move should be completed by the beginning of December and that with the deal edging closer, strides forward have been made to install a Sporting Director.
The firm Executives in Sport Group have undertaken interviews for the role and it has been narrowed down to four candidates, who are either English or Scandinavian.
Once takeover is confirmed and the successful candidate takes charge, he will be Sunderland’s first Sporting Director since Simon Wilson left the club in December, 2017.
L’Equipe also go on to mention that the Sartori/Louis-Dreyfus consortium could also purchase Uruguayan Primera Division outfit Club Atletico River Plate.
