No game for The Lads, and no wins for the Riches Lads. But... we are back on the pitch this weekend. Will we win? Will any bets come in?
Not much luck last time out across the board. Some of the lads came pretty close, but with a number of teams having real changes in fortune, we all missed out. In betting terms, much like football, hitting the post is the same as hitting the corner flag - they both get you nothing.
Hopefully the lads, our lads plus our readers can have more luck this time out. With several forced changes in the Sunderland team, can we retain the league run of clean sheets, or will we see more silly goals like the outing against Carlisle in the cup?
Can we get a win and see Posh, Accrington and Gillingham all lose, to get us back up to the top 4 with a game in hand? Do we want any games in hand, given how well we have converted them in the past seasons...
Let's hope the lads get back to winning ways ideally with a clean sheet, and hopefully we will also see some of the squad depth shown to good effect. With the injuries and suspensions starting to hit the squad, this is the time to get the young lads out and for them to grab their chance by the horns. About time that we found another Josh Maja....
The Rolling Table Week #5: Season 2020-2021
Banker’s Bonus...
There are a lot of Forest fans in my family and friends, and my goodness have they got off to a shocker! If they win by more than one goal this weekend away to Blackburn Rovers, their season can start to get going. If this comes in, all Riches punters and the selected reader get a free tenner extra bet next time out.
Hopefully they can pull up a few trees and win this time out... ahem.
This Week’s Bets:
Matty says...
Sunderland to win: I have lost every bet related to the Black Cats so far in Roker Riches so I’m simply backing the lads to win, is that so hard to ask Phil? £5 returns £9.54.
English Fivefold: Go big or go home! Ipswich to beat Accrington, Hull to beat Rochdale, Millwall to beat Wycombe, Brentford to beat Coventry and Spurs to beat West Ham. £5 returns £82.25,
Gary says...
Sunderland to win BTTS 3/1: I am taking a lads win, but feel like with us missing Denver we may concede. 5 quid pays back 20.
And I’ll go with a 4 team ACCA: With Chelsea at home to the Saints; Man Utd to bounce back from embarrassment and absolute destroy the Mags in St James; Spurs to beat West Ham, and then Blackburn to beat a very sad Notts Forrest team. All in my 5 quid bet wins me 39.47.
Phil says...
Sunderland to win (-1) and BTTS - No. £5 returns £27.50 with bet365.
Sunderland have a good defence and Swindon aren’t very good so I’m predicting a comfortable victory for Phil Parkinson’s men.
Bristol City, Union Berlin and Sassuolo all to win. £5 Treble returns £74.75
Bristol City are top of the Championship and should have enough to take all three points from their trip to Gerhard Struber-less Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.
Once again, I’ve gone continental on Sunday with Sassuolo (a regular feature in these bets) to beat Bologna in the all Emilia-Romagna clash.
Union Berlin, who have scored 8 goals in their last two games, take on perennial underachievers Schalke. Hopefully they can continue in that manner on Sunday evening.
Paul (PJ) says...
Week 5 and I’m still trying to get a win on the board. These are my two picks for this weekend. Grant Leadbitter to score the first goal. £5 returns £55.
Saturday Fourfold: Home wins for Brentford, Plymouth, Bolton and Torquay. £5 returns £49.71.
Malc says...
No luck last weekend but hoping to do better this week. Hanging on to mid table but only due to a couple of small wins, we need some biggies!
I’m hoping to lose this one one the basis that a couple of these are our opposition near top of the table, but ...I bet that Posh, Ipswich, Everton and Chelsea all will win. Fiver returns 90 quid on Skybet.
Backing my prediction elsewhere, I also think Sunderland and Hull will both to win, with more than 2.5 goals in each game. Hopefully 5-0 to the lads and Hull scrape past but start losing soon. Fiver returns £47, again on Skybet.
Danny says...
Sunderland to win: Despite the Lads being a little light in defence, I still expect us to get a win this weekend! £5 returns £9.54.
EFL treble: Ipswich to glide past Accrington, Fleetwood should have enough to beat Lincoln and Bolton to get their second win of the season. £5 returns £40.24.
Riches Readers...
Thanks to Andy Johnson (@andyjcow) for his interest in our readers' bets this week. His reply was selected from the replies on Twitter, and he fancies 3 or more goals in a couple of games featured in other bets across the team.
“Sunderland match +2.5 goals. Chelsea match +2.5 goals”
I worked that out on SkyBet as a £30.70 return for the readers £10 available (odds of just over 2-1), assuming you are calling that as a double Andy.
Cheers for chipping in, and good luck.
