Dear Roker Report,
I see that Jack Rodwell has got a contract at Sheffield United, with Chris Wilder suggesting all problems at Sunderland were not of his making. Wilder intimated CEO Bain was trying to find a villain, suggesting the villain was Rodwell.
How many managers did he play under, with none able to get him playing or keep free of injuries? Rodwell is an out and out greedy mercenary. He only went when he got a settlement and Sunderland had made him a millionaire. Since his departure no club have been prepared to offer him a long-term contract. Perhaps he thinks he is worth more than anyone wants to pay him. Sorry for the long rant, but Rodwell is perfect example of what is wrong with the modern game - greed.

Ed’s Note [Damian]: Bliddy ‘ell David tell me about it.
2020 promises to be just as batshit mental as 2019 doesn’t it. Two mop heads running ramshackle over global politics, Moyeseh to West Ham (with a brilliant start, I reluctantly hasten to add) and Jack Rodwell’s agent has managed to summon yet another crossroads demon to negotiate his client’s contract as a Premier League player.
I have to give my head a shake to see if I just had a few too many martoonis over Christmas time, and am currently in the depths of a medical coma induced to protect my fragile body from the ravages of all that high-strength alcohol. Tragically, that seems like the best-case scenario right now.
Dear Roker Report,
Well, here we go again. Should he stay or should he go? Stewart Donald I’m on about - SAFC supporters groups are now the same level as NUFC, trying to get rid of the owner.
Now I’m not fully for or against SD.
He brought stability to the club, a bit more adherence for the fans, and maybe just maybe he thought he could pull a miracle off in his first season. Low and behold it didn’t happen.
Now then, is it not that he didn’t realise how immense the job is? How big the club is? Not the supporters, but the running of the club itself?
It’s a lot bigger than Oxford, and bigger than Endsleigh or whatever, he has simply bitten off more than he can chew, and is now realising how big the job is.
So let’s stop putting SD and the club under pressure and let it run its course.
As for the manager well that’s another story.
Paul
Ed’s Note [Damian]: I’m somewhat in agreement, Paul. Personally, I found the protest/ultimatum given by all the fanzines to be impatient and disproportionate. I’m less inclined than most to believe that SD is purely a chancer, or a shameless liar, or anything other than another example of how immense the challenges of football are, be it owning a club or following one.
Ultimately though, as many I consider to be close friends were as instrumental in the furore as anyone else, what I can say with absolutely certainty is that they deemed the cause just. I believe it was mishandled, but I can’t question the sincerity of their motives.
That being said - as fans that disagree, neither you nor I are represented by Roker Report in this matter. Take from that what you will.
