Sunderland are said to be interested in Fleetwood Town midfielder Josh Morris as a replacement for Aiden McGeady, according to fresh rumours this afternoon.

Former Sky Sports reporter Pete O’Rourke claims that Phil Parkinson is considering a late, late move for the 28-year-old in-form winger after McGeady joined Charlton Athletic on-loan last night.

So far this season, Morris has nine goals and five assists for Fleetwood in all competitions and has played 201 times in League One throughout his career, scoring 50 goals and providing a further 35 assists.

The player left Scunthorpe United at the end of last season and joined Joey Barton’s team on a free transfer in the summer, his third spell with Fleetwood after two loan spells while he was on the books at Blackburn Rovers.
