Sunderland may be set to sign Celtic youngster Luca Connell on loan, according to reports.
The Bolton News say there are strong suggestions that the 18-year-old will head to the Stadium of Light on loan until the end of the season.
Neil Lennon admitted yesterday that the player could leave Celtic Park on a temporary basis after recovering from injury and now needing to get some games under his belt:
It might be good for him to get out and get some game time.
He had a thigh injury which kept him out for a couple of months and now he is playing very well in the development team.
Connell is primarily a midfielder but who can also play at left-back and at wing-back, which would suggest that his arrival would allow Ethan Robson to return to Grimsby Town.
Phil Parkinson was Connell’s manager at Bolton Wanderers last season before he was snapped up by Celtic on a four-year deal in the summer.
