STV have claimed exclusively that Sunderland and Charlton Athletic have approached Rangers to sign their out of favour midfielder Greg Docherty on loan until the end of the season.

Docherty spent last season with Shrewsbury Town and did really well, scoring ten goals in 50 appearances before heading back to Glasgow to join up with Steven Gerrard’s squad.

But, he’s been unable to force his way into the first team, and as such he’s being allowed to leave on loan in order to get some vital minutes under his belt.

The 23-year-old former Scotland U23 international is an athletic, box-to-box type player who likes to get in amongst the goals, as his record last season at this level shows.
