Rumours have swirled all summer regarding the future of forgotten defender Jack Baldwin, who has fallen way down the pecking order at Sunderland following the signing of Jordan Willis and the emergence of Alim Ozturk as a genuine first teamer.
And, with the hours ticking down before the transfer window closes, the former Hartlepool man could apparently be set to leave on a season long loan - with ambitious League Two side Salford City interested in taking him on.
Baldwin is viewed as fifth choice in his position, and despite playing well in Wednesday’s cup game at Burnley he’s been allowed to explore the possibility of leaving.
One potential bit of late business this afternoon.

Sounds like Jack Baldwin could leave #SAFC on loan.
Salford City interested.
Speaking last week about Baldwin, Jack Ross said:
As a manger it would be incredibly selfish to look at it that way because you can’t just accumulate players. If we were to strengthen ourselves defensively and Jack found his opportunities limited, players should want to play football and it would be remiss of me (to keep him).
You also have to back your judgement a bit. You can’t not select a player and feel as if somebody else should not have the right to select them.
Sunderland accept season-long loan offer from Salford City for defender Jack Baldwin. Player considering it #SAFC
