Sunderland have announced the signing of Scottish midfielder Ciaran Dunne.

The 19 year old will initially join up with Elliott Dickman’s U23s side.

Dunne has first team experience with Falkirk, featuring for their first team side on a number of occasions since making his debut for The Bairns - where he played alongside Tommy Robson, Andrew Nelson and Ruben Sammut - during the 2017-18 season.

The midfielder was also linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers in the early part of last year having spent time training with Tony Mowbray’s side.

Speaking about the move, Dunne said:

I’m delighted to sign for Sunderland because it’s a fantastic club and I really feel this is the perfect place for me to learn and improve.

I’ve been training with the lads for the last few days, the standard has been high, and it’s been competitive.

I have been schooled well at Falkirk and now I’m ready for this exciting challenge in my career.
