Roker Riches: Sunderland to draw 1-1 at Ipswich is 6/1 - is that where the safe money is at?

Sunderland love a 1-1 draw, and you can get 6/1 with some bookmakers for that score to come in today at Ipswich. What do you think the score will be today? Check our predictions and tips for this weekend’s round of games!

Danny Roberts

The State of Play

Last season’s winner Danny Roberts was the only pundit to win any money this week, raking in £33.28 worth of profit as his accumulator came in. The week’s biggest loser was newbie Matty Crichton, who spunked his load early and blew more than half of his pot on the opening weekend - don’t worry Matty, we’ve all been there.

The Table - Week #2

Banker’s Bonus...

Last week’s Banker’s Bonus never came in - we were hoping that Will Grigg could bag himself a goal in order to nab each of us a free bet, but the misfiring former Wigan man was brought off before the game ended and didn’t step up to take the penalty which Lynden Gooch won shortly after the second half started.

This week’s bonus: If Sunderland draw 1-1 with Ipswich, the banker has pledged to give each pundit a £20 free bet to be used on a Bundesliga fourfold for the following week!

This week’s picks!

Gav is going with...

Ipswich 1-1 Sunderland: Cos it’s the most predictable thing about Sunderland right now - drawing one-all. Maybe by me putting this bet on we’ll actually win! £10 returns £70.

Fourfold: Pompey, Sheff Wed, Watford and Salford. £10 returns £167.

Paul Fletcher is going with...

Ipswich 1 - 1 Sunderland: Can’t see it being a high-scoring game, would love to come away with 3 points but I’d settle for a point and some profit. £5 returns £35.

BTTS Fourfold: Cardiff vs Luton, Rochdale vs Doncaster, Swindon vs Carlisle and Dover vs Wrexham. Don’t fancy my chances of picking one winning team let alone four so I’ve gone for the lottery of both teams to score. £7.50 returns £79.16.

Danny Roberts is going with...

Sunderland to lose: I can see recently-relegated Ipswich picking up the three points and putting Jack Ross under further pressure. £5 returns £14.50.

4 fold: I think Bournemouth will be too strong for the Blades, and they’ll pick up an opening day win against Sheffield United. Elsewhere, both Portsmouth and West Brom have relatively easy home games they should win, and I think Sheffield Wednesday will either win or draw against local rivals Barnsley. £10 returns £81.00.

Rory Fallow is going with...

Ipswich 1-1 Sunderland: Do I really have to explain this? £5 returns £27.50.

Watford & Wolves to win: Watford are great value at Evens as they host Brighton on the opening day of the Premier League. It’s a trickier tie for Wolves, playing away to Leicester, but 13/5 is enough to tempt me. £5 returns £36.

Chris Camm is going with...

Sunderland to win & BTTS: Take all of the frustration of last week’s performance and put it in the past by going to Ipswich and making them beg for Mick McCarthy to come back. That said, we’ll definitely concede so I’m going Sunderland to win and both teams to score. £5 returns £25.

My second is going to be one of those Sky Bet specials called the Soccer Saturday Super boost. So in the games; Bournemouth vs Sheffield United, Fulham v Blackburn and Huddersfield v Brighton I’m hoping they’ll be boring affairs with less than 4.5 goals, under 13 corners and 50 booking points. If they are, my fiver turns into £40.

Graham Falk is going with...

Ipswich to win: I have zero confidence we can get a result on Saturday and think we’ll get tonked two or three nil. £10 returns £27.

Portsmouth, Cardiff, West Brom and Celtic to win: I don’t like betting on the Championship and I hate Pompey (did I mention that?) but the Bundesliga is still a week away, so let’s lose money this week. £5 returns £40.61.

Matty Crichton is going with...

Taking it easy after the horrors of last week which have placed me bottom...

Sunderland to win and both teams to score: Jack Ross is desperate for a win after a disappointing home draw with Oxford so I am backing the lads for a surprise victory! I think we’ll concede but I have a feeling the goals will finally arrive. £5 returns £27.50.

Fivefold: Attempting to play it safe but you just know one team will draw 1-1... Leeds, Coventry, Portsmouth and Mansfield are all hot favourites. £5 returns £29.98.
