Shankland set to join Dundee United
Sunderland look set to miss out on Ayr United’s Lawrence Shankland with reports suggesting that he will join Dundee United imminently.
The Scottish Sun claim that the prolific striker will have a medical with Scottish Championship side Dundee United on Thursday after agreeing a three-year deal with the club.
Sunderland’s interest in Shankland was supposedly linked to the impending takeover by Mark Campbell and his choice for Director of Football, John Park.

Wilson also set to move elsewhere
Sunderland may also miss out on Manchester United forward James Wilson, as the Scottish Sun also report that Aberdeen have won the race for the 23-year-old.
The striker spent last season on-loan at the club and Derek McInnes was hoping to take the player back to Pittodrie but reportedly faced competition from Sunderland.
That will not be happening though, with reports suggesting that Wilson will be confirmed as an Aberdeen playing as early as this morning.

Matthews to return to Celtic?
Celtic are considering a move for Sunderland defender Adam Matthews after the player left the club upon the expiry of his contract.
Celtic are looking for a new right back and had considered former Sunderland utility player Paddy McNair to fill the role but to get cold feet due to the Northern Ireland international reportedly being a Rangers fan.
That has led them to consider bringing back Matthews for a second stint at Celtic Park, four years after he left them to join Sunderland under Dick Advocaat.
