Due to the arrivals of Marc McNulty and George Dobson it looked like Sunderland’s summer transfer policy of one in one out had been relaxed, but reports in Belgium suggest that Bryan Oviedo is set to depart which has freed up funds to strengthen the squad.
Belgian website voetbal24.be claim that the Costa Rican’s long rumoured move to Club Brugge is ‘as good as complete’.
The report goes on to say that the left back is headed to the Jan Breydel Stadium but with no suggestion about whether Sunderland will receive a fee for his services.
Oviedo has been a regular in the Sunderland side since his arrival from Everton - injuries aside - but is by far the club’s highest earner and moving him on has allowed Jack Ross and his transfer team to move for McNulty and Dobson.
