Rotherham United winger Jon Taylor is the latest player to be linked with a move to Sunderland.

According to TEAMtalk, Jack Ross is keen on bringing the 26-year-old to the Stadium of Light this summer amidst interest from newly-promoted Championship duo Luton Town and Barnsley.

Taylor is out of contract at the end of the month and Rotherham were engaged in contract talks in the hope of keeping him at the New York Stadium but the report claims he wishes to remain in the Championship after The Millers relegation.

Despite that wish to stay in the second tier, TEAMtalk claim that Ross wants to persuade Taylor to join Sunderland’s League One promotion push instead.

Taylor has scored 13 goals and provided five assists in 119 games in all competitions since joining Rotherham from Peterborough United in 2016.

Meanwhile, Sunderland have also been linked with a move for Taylor’s Rotherham United team-mate David Ball.

The forward is also out of contract this summer but unlike Taylor, Ball was released by the club following relegation. Blackpool, Lincoln City, Tranmere Rovers and Ipswich Town have also been named as potential suitors.
