Roker Riches: Sunderland are 2/1 to beat Oxford - tempting odds, but it’s going to be tough!

Sunderland are a decent price considering it’s 21st v 4th, but Oxford United have been in decent form recently against League One’s big boys - are we worth backing, or is this one a bet to avoid this weekend?

Danny Roberts | Roker Riches

Sunderland won! Hooray!

Surely that means we all finally won some money again? Right?

Wrong.

It turns out that Sunderland winning isn’t the key to the fortunes of our gamblers. A lot of our bets last week revolved around a high scoring game, or certain players scoring. So given that none of us backed Aiden McGeady to score and no one thought of sticking some money on 1-0, we all won nowt.

Our second bets not coming in just compounded the misery that is our bank balances.

So on to Oxford, a team who have beaten some of the sides around us lately. This will be a difficult one for our pundits but it’s not like we’re doing well anyway, so we might as well just hope for the best.

The Table...

The Banker’s Bonus...

The mysterious banker is keeping it nice and simple this weekend. A win for Sunderland away to Oxford and each gambler will be rewarded with a free £10 bet on Manchester City vs. Chelsea.

Gav - @Gav1879

Sunderland to win & over 1.5 goals: The odds for us to pick up a victory are too tempting not to take them, in all honesty. Haway the bloody lads... give these toffs a ruddy good pummeling, ey? £20 returns £76.

Fourfold: Man Utd, Watford (Silva is on sack-watch, remember), Sheff Wed on a Brucey bounce and Barnsley to keep up their winning ways. £10 returns £140.

Rory - @RoryFallow

Sunderland to win & over 2.5 goals: Oxford’s decent run of form means there’s some good value on our game this weekend. I’m not expecting a clean sheet for us but I still believe we’ll come out on top, so I’m backing a win with a few goals in the match. £5 returns £22.50.

Burnley to win & under 2.5 goals: Dyche’s men have been in good form lately, where as Brighton are in a bit of a poor run. I’ll take Burnley to grind out a hard fought win away from home. £5 returns £32.50.

Danny - @DJRoberts22

Oxford v Sunderland - Over 2.5 Goals. I think we’ll draw or lose on Saturday. Oxford are weird team this season and have a good record against the big boys and can score goals. I’m thinking 2-1, so over 2.5 goals will do. £5 returns £10.50.

Five Fold - Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth to win or draw, Doncaster and Lincoln to win: Plymouth are in better form than Pompey and could really cause a crisis down at Fratton Park with a vicotry. The rest are winnable games for all the remaining sides. £10 returns £101.52.

Connor - @connorbromley

Sunderland to win and BTTS: I’m desperate. bald and copying Chris. £50 returns £325.

Man Utd, Arsenal, Luton, PSG, Dortmund & Bayern to win: As above. £25 returns £275.84.

Dan Parker - @DGP202

Sunderland to win & over 1.5 goals: Made this exact bet last week... and I lost. Going to make the same bet again but this is probably not one to copy at home. £40 returns £152.

Sixfold Acca: I’ve got faith in six teams this weekend. All these teams are going to win and get me some money, I can feel it: Luton, Forest Green, Celtic, Arbroath, Liverpool, and Salford. £5 returns £66.11.

Chris - @ChrisSavedLatin

Sunderland to win and BTTS: I need to make money back, this is the start of a rags to Roker Riches story. £50 returns £325.

Man Utd, Arsenal, Luton, PSG, Dortmund & Bayern to win: Six favourites to win. Both these bets are coming in and are gonna put me into profit. Easy this man... £25 returns £275.84.

Graham - @AsylumDoors

Sunderland to score first: I’m really struggling to call this, part of me says a 2-0 win, the other part of me says a 1-1 draw. I think we’ll score first though. £10 returns £20.

Bundesliga treble: Whilst I had a great time going to two German games last weekend, my Bundesliga treble was well off, so I’m putting big money on a safe set of bets this week. Bayern, Dortmund and Leipzig to win. £50 returns £187.
