Roker Riches: Short odds indicate bookies are expecting Will Grigg to start his Sunderland fire

It appears that the bookies are backing Will Grigg to light to fire and open his Sunderland goalscoring account tonight - can he and the lads get on track against an out of form Accrington Stanley side?

Danny Roberts

Draws. Endless draws.

Another disappointing result meant it was another disappointing round of bets for the Roker Report gamblers. Every single one of us lost money, with Chris and Connor being the biggest losers with £75 squandered each. Fair play to them for copying each others bets though, a genuinely touching moment.

It may be blind faith but none of us seem to back Sunderland to draw, which is mad considering how much we love a tie lately. With that in mind, let’s see if any of the pundits are backing a stalemate against Accrington Stanley.

The Table...

The Banker’s Bonus...

If Will Grigg grabs his first Sunderland goal on Friday night, The Banker will give each player a free £10 bet on Manchester United vs. Liverpool in the next round of bets.

Gav - @Gav1879

SAFC v Accrington - First goal between 30-45 minutes: Trying something different this week as I’ve been useless for ages at this. £10 returns £54.

Treble: Manfield, Portsmouth and Norwich. Haway... £20 returns £142.

Rory - @RoryFallow

Will Grigg to score first: He’ll put that miss from Tuesday night behind him and set us on our way for a much needed win! £10 returns £45.

Norwich & West Brom to win: Two Championship who are doing sides doing well so I’ll go ahead and put the curse on both of them. £5 returns £22.20.

Danny - @DJRoberts22

Sunderland v Accrington - SAFC to win: We looked okay against Blackpool and, if Will Grigg put one of his sitters away, we would’ve picked up all three points I’m sure. I expect the same sort of performance but with greater reward. £5 returns £9.00.

Triple - Sheffield United, Barnsley and Lincoln all to win: All easy games for these sides on home soil. £10 returns £33.20.

Connor - @connorbromley

Sunderland to win: Back to basics. Can’t remember the last time I won. If I don’t get a win this week then I will retire. You have my word. £50 returns £91.66.

Derby to beat Brighton: Why not? £50 returns £216.67.

Dan Parker - @DGP202

Will Grigg to score and Sunderland to win: I’m backing Grigg to put things right against Stanley and the Lads to get back to winning ways. £30 returns £96.

Six Team Acca: This week I’m planning to lose money by backing Sunderland, Juve, Barca, Lyon, Leyton Orient and Napoli all to win. £5 returns £80.01.

Chris - @ChrisSavedLatin

Sunderland to win over 2.5 goals: Minus £588, how is that even possible? Jesus wept! I don’t even think my bets are even that unrealistic. Don’t gamble boys and girls. £20 returns £52.50.

Newport to beat Man City: Let’s have a massive TWO POUNDS on a famous cup win for the Newport chaps. £2 returns £52.

Graham - @AsylumDoors

Sunderland to win and Will Grigg to score anytime: do I think we’ll break the cycle of 1-1 draws this Friday? In short, yes, and Grigg will notch under the SOL lights. £20 returns £40.83.

Bundesliga treble: Another week of Bundesliga loses due to Dortmund conceded three in the last ten hasn’t put me off. Schalke, Frankfurt and Wolfsburg to bring home the money. £10 returns £60.34.
