The final touches are being put to the deal that will see Will Grigg become a Sunderland player today, with the club merely awaiting approval from the FA before officially announcing that the move has been completed.

And taking to his Twitter account, Stewart Donald - who will be recording an episode of the Roker Rapport Podcast with us tomorrow - replied to a Twitter user regarding some of the specifics of the impending transfer, indicating that it will only reach four million pounds if Sunderland eventually make it to the Premier League.

Sunderland had Grigg’s ‘deal sheet’ completed before the 11pm deadline, and the formalities of the process were finished late last night.

The club’s recruitment team were working long into the night to ensure everything was in order, and it’s understood that Grigg completed part of his medical in Wigan yesterday.

He’s expected on Wearside at some point today in order to meet club staff and be announced officially as a Sunderland player - provided, of course, the FA give the club their approval.
