Dutch right back Jizz Hornkamp has claimed he turned down a summer approach from Sunderland, instead preferring a move to Den Bosch, whilst Everton are apparently sniffing around Josh Maja.

Maja scouted by Everton

Sunderland academy product Josh Maja has already been linked with move to Frank Lampard’s Chelsea ahead of the January transfer window and may yet link up with Jordan Pickford at Everton.

The Bordeaux striker is starting to hit his stride in Ligue 1, with a hat-trick earlier in the season and teams are already taking note.

According to French journalist Ignazio Genuardi, Everton scouted Maja earlier in the month when his side lost 1-0 to Lamine Kone’s Strasbourg.

Genuardi also claimed that other Premier League sides are also scouting the 20-year-old striker.

Sunderland will be hoping that a move for Maja goes through, with the club set to receive a windfall due to a sell-on fee in his contract.

Borini close to Genoa move

Fabio Borini has been out of favour at AC Milan since the start of the season, not featuring for the club since the end of August when he made a substitute appearance in Serie A against Brescia.

Despite being strongly linked with a move to Premier League side Crystal Palace, he appears to be moving to Genoa.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the white smoke is imminent for Borini’s move to Genoa, where a two-year deal with the option of extending to 2023 awaits the former Sunderland striker.

Jizz not coming

Although the January transfer window is set to open, there is still news emanating from the summer window.

Speaking to the Noordhollands Dagblad, the unusually named Dutch right-back Jizz Hornkamp revealed that he chose his current club Den Bosch over Sunderland during the summer.

The 21-year-old has not featured for Den Bosch since signing due to a major hip injury but he says that his agent was approached by Sunderland but decided against a move to the Stadium of Light due to it being too early in is career to move abroad.
