Roker Riches: Sunderland are heavy favourites with the bookies to decimate Southend today

Sunderland are heavy favourites with the bookies to decimate Southend today - will Sol Campbell’s side be capable of causing an upset on their trip to Wearside?

Danny Roberts

The State of Play

There were just two winners from our gaggle of pundits last week - Danny Roberts continued his rich vein of form at the top of the table when his treble-turned-double came in, whilst Graham’s Falk’s treble of favourites netted him a small profit of £18.13 to ensure his steady gains in this year’s competition continued.

At the foot of the table Rory Fallow and Matty Crichton are fighting it out to decide who will be the first person to go into their overdraft this season. Neither men have had much luck in the betting this year and they both lost significant sums last week.

The Table - Week #12

Banker’s Bonus...

The Banker is loving Sunderland right now - their losing streak is helping him out, and again last week he didn’t have to pay out after they failed to beat Shrewsbury...

This week’s bonus: If Chris Maguire scores against Southend on Saturday, the Banker has pledged to refund all losing bets AND double any profits won.

This week’s picks!

Gav is going with...

Fourfold: Arsenal, Chelsea, Leeds and Swindon all to win. I need this to try and get closer to Danny at the top, and I’ve not won for weeks. Fingers crossed... £10 returns £89.

SAFC to win & over 3.5 goals in the game: Sunderland’s price this week is horrifically short, so I’m going to have to be creative. Neither team are very good at keeping clean sheets, and Southend’s defensive record is particularly terrible... £10 returns £31.

Danny Roberts is going with...

Sunderland to win by 2 goals: We’ve looked really good under Parkinson, despite the results away from home indicating differently. Southend are very poor though, so I certainly expect us to win comfortably on Saturday. £5 returns £20.

Fourfold: After another acca win, i’m sitting pretty at the top of the table and hoping to extend my lead further. I’m going to go for home wins for Milton Keynes, Coventry and Swindon, while playing it a little safe by picking Sheffield United to win or draw their game against Burnley. £15 returns £134.24.

Rory Fallow is going with...

Luke O’Nien to score any time: I’m on the brink of debt here so there’s no point applying any logic. I simply have a feeling that O’Nien will score on Saturday, nothing more to it. £10 returns £55.

Wolves to beat Arsenal BTTS: A bit more of a risk but given the unrest at The Emirates and the fact that Wolves are unbeaten in their last five league outings, it’s not an outrageous suggestion. £10 returns £75.

Paul Fletcher is going with...

Sunderland to win 6-0: I’d be happy with 1-0 and 3 points but I’m greedy for goals and winnings. £5 returns £205.

FOURFOLD: Barrow, Farsley, Wealdstone and Edinburgh City. £7.50 returns £116.18.

Graham Falk is going with...

Sunderland and over 1.5 goals: Quite fancy a two or three goal win because Southend are really, really bad. £30 returns £45.

Fourfold: Man. City, Doncaster Rovers, Rangers and my old faithfuls Leipzig to bring home the dollar cash. £10 returns £45.11.

Matty Crichton is going with...

Sunderland to beat Southend: Sick of losing every week so I am going as safe as possible - surely we can beat Southend? £24.33 returns £32.44.

EFL Treble: Plymouth to beat Grimsby, Swindon to beat Walsall and Leeds to beat QPR. If I lose this week I go bust! £10 returns £46.76.
