PLAYER RATINGS: Wycombe 1-0 Sunderland - No win for Parky on his first game as gaffer

Sunderland put in a poor performance in Phil Parkinson’s first game in charge, losing 1-0 to second-place Wycombe. Here’s how our man watching the match rated the Lads in red and white this afternoon.

Lee Burge: 6/10

Didn’t have too much to do, had no chance with the goal.

Conor McLaughlin: 5/10

Struggled to deal with Wycombe’s direct play. Really poor again. Missed a glorious chance.

Jordan Willis: 6/10

Tried his best, but struggled with Akinfenwa.

Joel Lynch: 6/10

Defensively similar to above, but really poor distribution. Kept launching it.

Denver Hume: 6.5/10

Our best player. Positive and direct. Shame his team mates couldn’t match it.

Aiden McGeady: 4/10

Very, very poor. Nothing came off for him and needs to be doing far more.

Max Power: 5/10

Not one of his best games. Needs to stamp his authority more. Far too often a passenger.

Grant Leadbitter: 4/10

Wasteful in possession, slow to react to everything and overpowered in the middle.

Luke O'Nien: 4/10

Invisible today. Expected much more on his return to Adams Park.

Duncan Watmore: 6/10

Battled and chased everything but wasn’t given enough support.

Charlie Wyke: 6/10

Worked hard before coming off injured at half time.

(SUB) Will Grigg : 6/10

Some nice touches but, again, never looked likely to score.

(SUB) Chris Maguire: 6/10

Generally quiet and didn’t alter the game at all.

(SUB) Marc McNulty: 5/10

Quiet.

Man of the Match: Denver Hume
