Former Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson is set to be named as Sunderland’s new manager, according to an exclusive by Luke Edwards of the Telegraph.

The ex-Charlton, Colchester and Bradford City boss has been out of work since resigning from his job with Bolton earlier in the season, and has apparently been identified as the successor to Jack Ross because of his record of three EFL promotions and the fact he has managed at big clubs previously.

Edwards alleges that, barring any issues, Parkinson should be officially named as manager in the next 24 hours.
