Roker Riches: Sunderland take on League One’s in-form side on their own turf - hard to bet on!

Our pundits are faced with the difficult task of having to bet on a game where Sunderland are away from home and taking on League One’s most in-form team - dare we back Scunthorpe, or should we have faith in the Lads?

Check out our picks!
Danny Roberts

Right Sunderland, stop messing about. We don’t just need some wins to further our promotion push but we some wins to improve our gamblers form!

I guess it proves we’re not great betters, we’re just loyal to Sunderland. Which considering the amount of money we’ve lost over recent seasons, you really have to admire. When Jack Ross’ men were winning with ease, the cash was flowing but this little run of games that’s included a few draws & a loss, has seen the flow reduced to a trickle.

Scunthorpe though. We mullered them back in August! Surely if our pundits keep the faith this week we’ll be back to winning ways? Or will someone do the unthinkable and back a draw?

The Banker’s Bonus...

A win and a clean sheet for Sunderland this weekend will see The Banker give each player a free £10 on Manchester City v Arsenal when we return from our blank weekend.

Our Picks...

Gav - @Gav1879

Sunderland to win: I know Scunthorpe are in decent form and we aren’t playing particularly well, but at evens this is a canny bet I reckon. £10 returns £20.

Fourfold: Spurs, Nottingham Forest, Fleetwood and Carlisle. Forest and Carlisle have new managers, whilst Spurs (who, yes, are without their two best strikers) are away at Fulham and Fleetwood face League One’s most out of form side in Rochdale. £10 returns £255.

Rory - @RoryFallow

Sunderland to win BTTS: I still don’t have much confidence in us keeping a clean sheet, given both sides recent form, but I’ll still back the lads to edge the game. £10 returns £42.

Leeds & Hull to win: Marco Bielsa to powerpoint his way to a win over Stoke and Hull to keep up their brilliant form against Aston Villa. £10 returns £88.20.

Danny - @DJRoberts22

Scunthorpe v Sunderland - Under 2.5 goals. We haven’t scored more than one goal a game for a while now, so this is either ending 1-0 to the Lads or in a 1-1 draw. £5 returns £8.75.

Treble - QPR, Charlton, Blackpool all to win: I got it all horribly wrong last week. However, this trio look like a decent treble as all three have winnable home games. £10 returns £105.

Connor - @connorbromley

Sunderland to win: Our downturn in form recently has resulted in me losing a lot of dollar! But I must back the lads this weekend against a pretty decent Scunny side. £50 returns £100.

Mags to lose: Newcastle face Cardiff at home this weekend in their biggest game of the season. I reckon Neil Warnock will steal all three points in what will undoubtedly be the dullest game in Premier League history. £10 returns £42.

Dan Parker - @DGP202

Sunderland to win BTTS: Scunthorpe are in form so this will be a tougher game than the first time we played them. But still back the lads to get a crucial win. £10 returns £42.

Fivefold Acca: Going European with this one and mixing it up with some teams I’ve never backed too. Going for Lorient, Frankfurt, Inter Milan, PSG and Barca to win. £5 returns £44.13.

Chris Sparks - @ChrisSavedLatin

Sunderland to win: I’m copying Connor’s bets this week. Heh heh. £50 returns £100.

Mags to lose: You better believe it. £10 returns £42.

Graham - @AsylumDoors

Sunderland to draw: This has got a 1-1 draw all over it. They’ve won four in a row, that has to stop soon and we don’t seem capable of scoring more than one goal in a game. £5 returns £17.

Bundesliga treble: It’s back baby! The Bundesliga returns and with it, so does my German treble. Hertha, Frankfurt and Bayern to win. £10 returns £60.
