Bradford City striker Charlie Wyke is on Wearside today in order to take part in a medical and sign a deal which will see him finally complete move to Sunderland.
The former Carlisle forward - who has proven himself over recent years as a capable scorer at this level - has been chased by the club right throughout the summer, and after agreeing a fee earlier in the week, Sunderland have been given the go-ahead to put the final touches to the move.
Wyke is currently injured and won’t be able to take part in first-team action for a few weeks yet, but with the issue not a serious one it isn’t expected that it’ll have any impact on Sunderland completing the deal.
Provided today’s proceedings go without a hitch, Sunderland should announce Wyke’s arrival soon - which will no doubt allay fears amongst supporters regarding our ability to get a proven goalscorer through the door before the season begins on Saturday against Charlton Athletic.
