One of the most commonly asked questions we’ve had here at Roker Report from our fellow Sunderland supporters in recent weeks has been “when are they going to release the new strips?” - finally it looks like the wait is almost over, though, with the club set to reveal their new red and white home effort this coming Monday.
With it will likely come the announcement of a new sponsor, BETDAQ, who will replace long-term club sponsor Dafabet - who ended their partnership with the club one year earlier than anticipated.
Gone are the horrendous pinstripes that caused so much controversy last summer, marking the return to a more traditional Sunderland kit with thicker red and white bars across the front.
The logo on the front is much more simple too, with BETDAQ in plain and simple black lettering.
We’ll leave the finer details on how it looks properly for when the official announcement and reveal comes after the weekend, but the club will be glad to have one of their many jobs ticked off the list when the new kit goes out on sale.
There had been a significant delay due to issues with confirming our sponsor for the coming season and, as we revealed here on the site a number of weeks ago, Dafabet exercised a clause which allowed them to cut ties with Sunderland after relegation.
