New goalkeeper coach appointed

Sunderland had been looking for a new goalkeeper coach since the departure of Adrian Tucker from that position shortly after Jack Ross’ arrival as the new Sunderland manager, but that position has now been filled after the arrival of Jimmy Walker.

Walker had been goalkeeper coach at Lincoln City but has departed The Imps to take over the same position at the Stadium of Light.

The UEFA qualifed coach spent most of his playing career with Walsall but also had spells with Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Colchester United and will now be working with Jon McLaughlin, Robbin Ruiter and Max Stryjek at the Academy of Light.

That set up only means one thing.. #headtennis #notlostsince87 ⚽️

Academy product set for move

Sunderland academy product John Egan has proven himself at Championship level recently thanks to some good displays for Brentford - and those performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with Sheffield United set to sign the defender.

Egan came through the ranks at Sunderland and was expected to challenge for a first team spot, but his progress was slowed thanks to a terrible leg break while on loan at Bradford City.

After being released by Sunderland in 2014, the central defender was snapped up by Gillingham and spent two years with the Gills before moving on to Brentford in 2016.

Not only have his displays for the Bees caught the attention of United boss Chris Wilder, but he has also forced his way into the Irish squad.

A Moyes dream come true

Former Sunderland winger Adnan Januzaj is being linked with a return to the Premier League, with Marco Silva’s Everton mooted as a possible suitor.

According to Het Nieuwsblad, the Toffees have been in contract with the player in regards to a possible transfer. The 23-year-old left Manchester United and signed a five-year deal with Real Sociedad last year, following a miserable loan spell at Sunderland.

His stock has risen since though after a good season in La Liga and scoring against England and Jordan Pickford in the World Cup.
