Bring Your Spanners! Sunderland’s pink seat fan BBQ is set to go ahead; announcement is coming

Sunderland are working on the finishing touches before they can announce the date for the seat replacement BBQ. Subject to the applicable safety checks, a date is currently pencilled in for the middle of July, over a weekend, with fans invited to come down to the Stadium of Light to help with their installation.

All seats have been ordered and paid for but as they will arrive 5,000 at a time, they won’t all be available for the fan weekend but there should be at least 10,000 shiny, new red seats available in time for the BBQ weekend.

Although nowhere near a priority for the new owners, the state of the Stadium of Light has been a talking point for some time now. With the previous regime allowing the ground to become shabby, with the badly faded pink seats a symbol of the lack of pride around the club.
