Milestone Reached: Sunderland AFC have now sold 18,000 season cards ahead of next season!

Roker Report can confirm that two thousand additional season cards have been sold one week after our new owner announced they were back on sale at a reduced price.

Information has reached Roker Report this afternoon that, by the end of today, the club will have sold over 18,000 season cards ahead of next season in League One - a truly staggering amount considering the fact that this club is about to enter only its second-ever season in the third-tier.

That means that, in the last week, two thousand additional cards have been sold since Stewart Donald ‘challenged’ supporters to join him on his journey and beat last season’s total of 20,000 season cards sold, explaining that the club needs us to get bums on seats if we are to challenge properly under the management of Jack Ross.

Sunderland extended the deadline for reduced price season cards until 5pm on the 22nd of June in a bid to capitalise on the good-feeling that has came along since Ellis Short left the club, and it would seem that previously wary fans have responded in kind.

Speaking last week, Stewart Donald spoke passionately of his vision for the club next season - and noted that the supporters being there with them for the journey is critically essential:

The reception I’ve received from the Sunderland fans has been absolutely incredible and we want to give something back to them in recognition of this, so we’re extending the early purchase price period for a couple of weeks.

We are excited by the challenge of turning this football club around. We know we can’t do it on our own, but as one we can become unstoppable and take Sunderland back where to where it should be.

The last few years have been tough for fans – that’s an understatement – but together we can make the Stadium of Light a fortress once more, so I would urge supporters to join me next season.

A new era starts now, and there’s no time to waste.

As well as reducing the prices, the club is making it easier for fans to pay for their season card by introducing a direct debit scheme which consists of three equal payments taken on or around 01/07, 01/09 and 01/11. The deadline to join the direct debit scheme is 4pm on Friday 8th June.

For more information, please contact the ticket office on 0191 511 5004, or visit in person at the Stadium of Light: Monday-Friday: 9am-5pm, Saturday: 10am-1pm, Sunday: Closed.
