TEAM NEWS: THREE changes for Sunderland; LuaLua FINALLY named in a starting XI!

Robbie Stockdale made three alterations to the side that lost away to Fulham and named a pletheora of youth on today’s bench. Here’s a quick rundown of all the chop and change.

Billy Jones, Lamine Kone and George Honeyman make way for Bryan Oviedo, Adam Matthews and Kazenga LuaLua as Sunderland begin life after Chris Coleman.

Academy lads Bali Mumba, Josh Maja, Elliot Embleton, Denver Hume and Luke Molyneux are all named on the bench - a possible prelude to the options we’ll utilise next season.

Here’s how today’s team sheet reads:

Sunderland: Jason Steele, Bryan Oviedo, Adam Matthews, John O’Shea, Marc Wilson, Ovie Ejaria, Paddy McNair, Ethan Robson, Kazenga LuaLua, Joel Asoro, Ashley Fletcher

Subs: Lee Camp, Josh Maja, Jake Clarke-Salter, Bali Mumba, Elliot Embleton, Denver Hume, Luke Molyneux

Many of today’s first teamers will be playing their last game in a Sunderland shirt. Many of those on the bench could be about to begin a long string of regular appearances. Whatever the future of the lads name on the team sheet this afternoon, let’s hope they can give Stewart Donald the best possible first impression of SAFC.
