TEAM NEWS: FOUR changes to Chris Coleman’s starting XI; Max Stryjek named on bench

The spine of Sunderland’s team has been significantly altered as four of Tuesday’s eleven have been swapped out.

John O’Shea, Adam Matthews, Lynden Gooch and Ovie Ejaria have been swapped out for Marc Wilson, Bryan Oviedo, Paddy McNair and Callum McManaman as Chris Coleman shuffles the Sunderland deck.

The former three lose their places because of injuries they appear to have picked up, with the latter - Ejaria - simply being benched; due most likely to his underwhelming performance at home to Norwich.

Academy product and Poland U19 ‘stopper Max Stryjek makes a surprise cameo on the bench today, ahead of Jason Steele who also misses today’s game through an injury.

Here’s the shape our lineup takes:

Sunderland: Lee Camp, Bryan Oviedo, Marc Wilson, Lamine Kone, Donald Love, Lee Cattermole, Paddy McNair, George Honeyman, Aiden McGeady, Callum McManaman, Ashley Fletcher

Subs: Max Stryjek, Kazenga LuaLua, Josh Maja, Ethan Robson, Joel Asoro, Jake Clarke-Salter, Ovie Ejaria

Plenty of consistent performers are retaining their places; but let’s hope we can make up for the absence of high flying Lynden Gooch.

Ha’way man, Sunlin!
