Roker Riches: The most difficult Sunderland game to bet on this season - is 13/5 a good price?!

Two of the best teams in League One face off this weekend which means it’s a tough one to bet on. Are Sunderland a good price at 13/5 to win the game against promotion rivals Pompey?

It’s a dodgy one to bet on this week - can Sunderland do the biz on the south coast?
Danny Roberts | Roker Report

You just know that when Sunderland win, so do our gamblers!

Our top three pundits all made modest profits last week. Gav stays top after winning £40 (although it could have been more had Northampton not let him down on a fourfold), Dan keeps plugging away in second after bringing in £22.50, but the weekend’s highest earner was Danny Roberts.

Registering just under £50, Danny’s balance is now north of £300! A high stake on Sunderland to win paid off, along with a treble of Watford, Lincoln and Spurs. Will we see a new challenge for the title in the new year?

I don’t think Connor and Chris are going to be mounting a title challenge any time soon though. They lost a combined £130 last week, with Chris deep in debt now, so they’ll have to be a bit more shrewd with their punts over the coming weeks.

Will they start a recovery this weekend? Will Danny continue his push up the table? Let’s find out!

The Table...

The Banker’s Bonus...

It’ll be a tough game for Sunderland away to Portsmouth but if they win by two clear goals, the banker will give each gambler a free £10 bet on Liverpool vs. Arsenal.

Our Picks...

Gav - @Gav1879

Sunderland & BTTS: This is probably the hardest Sunderland bet I’ve made this season - as good as we are, Portsmouth have been the pace-setters in League One for the first half of the campaign and predicting them to lose has been difficult. £10 returns £65.

Fourfold: West Ham, Derby, Doncaster & Lincoln. C’mon! £10 returns £178.

Rory - @RoryFallow

Sunderland to win and over 2.5 goals: We tend to score more against the better sides and we haven’t exactly been solid at the back lately. I still think we’ll edge the game but it won’t be low scoring. £10 returns £75.

Southampton & Norwich to win: Let’s see if Saints can keep the new manager bounce going at Huddersfield and if the high flying Canaries can win away to midtable Blackburn. £5 returns £28.75.

Danny - @DJRoberts22

Portsmouth v Sunderland - Pompey to win: Like everyone, I really can’t gauge how Saturday is going to go. The pessimistic-nature installed into me over the years of torment leans me more towards a home win, so I’ll punt for that. £5 returns £10.

Treble - Stoke, Newcaslte & Grimsby all to win: Stoke should be too much for Milwall, Fulham are terrible and Grimsby are in good form currently. £10 returns £81.

Connor - @connorbromley

Sunderland to win: After a great start to the season I am now struggling badly. This is a Steve Brucesque run of defeats and I need a big win now. The tactic to employ is what worked so well for me at the start of the season - £50 big ones on a Sunderland win. Returns £180.

Arsenal, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Man City and Southampton to win: Big acca this. Big win if it comes off. £50 returns £458.98.

Dan Parker - @DGP202

Sunderland to win and over 2.5 goals: I’d bite your hands off for a draw to be honest but might as well gamble on a big win. Big in terms of both scoreline and table... £10 returns £75.

Sevenfold Acca: Time for one of these to come off now. Gonna increase the teams but increase the number of “bankers” too. Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Salford, Atletico, PSG and Napoli to win. £5 returns £68.10.

Chris - @chrissavedlatin

Sunderland to win: Hello darkness my old friend. I need to bet big to win big. This is why gambling is bad... - £50 returns £180.

Dortmund, Bayern, Hoffenheim, Leipzig & Chelsea. I’m gonna copy Graham but also throw Chelsea in the mixer for no logical reason at all. £35 returns £247.63.

Graham - @AsylumDoors

Sunderland and Pompey BTTS: I can’t call this weekend, and as I noted on the Xtra pod - I’d be happy with a draw. I think we’ll see 2-2 so I’ll put money on both teams to score. £10 return £17.50.

Bundesliga Fourfold: Evidently, I know miles more about the German League than I do about anyone other as it keeps bringing me money, or I normally miss out by one result, so I’m sticking to Bundesliga bets till season end - probably. Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Leipzig and Hoffenheim to pull through for me this week. £25 returns £125.67.
