Roker Riches: Port Vale are 3/1 to cause an FA Cup upset & beat Sunderland - scary but possible?

Sunderland are sure to make changes this weekend for the FA Cup game away at Port Vale. Can the side from the potteries cause an upset and knock the big boys out in the first round?

Danny Roberts

Keep that money coming Mr Banker!

The profits were modest last week but Sunderland’s form has been so good lately, our gamblers can’t stop winning. Rory went high stakes by betting £50 on Sunderland to beat Plymouth, which came off nicely and you can’t really blame him for taking such a risk.

Elsewhere, Danny’s £10 treble of Everton, Barnsley & Lincoln ensured he was the week’s biggest earner with takings of £45.51 all told.

It’s time for SAFC to get in on the magic of the cup this weekend and what will that mean for our pundits? Will they fancy a big over lower league opposition or will the unknowns of what type of team we’ll put out make them more cautious? Let’s find out...

The Banker’s Bonus...

If Sunderland make it into the next round of the FA Cup on Sunday and Jerome Sinclair is on the scoresheet, the banker will give each player a free £10 League One fourfold.

Our Picks...

Gav - @Gav1879

Sunderland to beat Port Vale: I’m so confident of this that I’m putting down a maximum stake on Sunderland to come away from the potteries with a victory. £50 returns £90.

FA Cup Fivefold: This one’s a bit of a punt, but here goes. Peterborough, Billericay, Lincoln, Forest Green Rovers, Newport County. £10 returns £534.

Rory - @RoryFallow

Sunderland to win & over 2.5 goals: Time for Jack Ross’ men to see off another set of jobbers. £10 returns £45.

Manchester United to win: I know they’re away to Manchester City but 15/2 for Mourinho to sh*thouse his way to a win is insane. After their win against Juventus, United will be full of confidence as well. £10 returns £85.

Danny - @DJRoberts22

Over 2.5 goals in Port Vale v Sunderland: Going for my normal bet on Sunderland. £5 returns £9.05.

Sheffield United, Birmingham, Chelsea & Arsenal all to win: Sheffield United should win the Steel City derby, especially as the Owls haven’t won in their last four. Birmingham should brush aside a poor Hull City, while Chelsea and Arsenal home games in the Premier League they should win. £10 returns £80.

Bromley - @connorbromley

Sunderland to win: This £50 on Sunderland to win has been a stroke of genius by myself and it has really given me a chance of winning this - impressive since I lost last season. £50 returns £90.

Newcastle to lose: They were poor last weekend and did not deserve to win. I reckon Eddie Howe and Bournemouth will turn them over. £10 returns £25.

Dan Parker - @DGP202

Sunderland to win: Let’s take our league form into the cup please Lads. Expecting loads of changes but a familiar result. £10 returns £18.

Fivefold Acca: Playing it a wee bit safer with this week’s Acca - Liverpool, Boro, Marseille and Roma to win home games with City beating United in the Super Sunday derby. £5 returns £39.87.

Chris - @chrissavedlatin

Sunderland to win to nil: I’m so confident that we’re gonna hammer these jobbers that I’m betting big. £25 returns £77.50.

Hearts, Middlesbrough, Swansea, Spurs & Norwich to win - Five teams, five pounds... £5 returns £209.17.

Graham - @AsylumDoors

Sunderland to win 5-1: A bit of an outlandish bet, but I have the feeling we’re going to do what we did to Rotherham way back in 1998 for those of you old enough to remember. Someone is due a proper walloping. £5 returns £335.

Leicester, Liverpool, Barcelona, Peterborough, Newport County, Oxford sixfold: A sixfold of fairly safe bet. Worth it if it’s comes off. £10 returns £90.15.
