Date announced for Sartori candidacy
Juan Sartori will officially announce that he is running for the Uruguayan presidency under the banner of the right-wing National Party on December 11.
The leader of the Todo Por el Pueblo faction of the National Party Alem Garcia has high hopes for Sartori, as he acclaimed him as the best Uruguayan to be president and who will be a figure to inspire great national hope.
Garcia and his group will be behind Sartori in the National Party’s internal elections in June and he says Sartori will continue working with the party regardless of whether or not he is chosen to be their candidate:
Sartori is going to continue working, we hope that the only candidate of the National Party will be Juan Sartori but whatever comes, we will be soldiers of the one who wins, but we expect a reciprocal attitude.
Grimsby discussing Embleton extension
Sunderland youngster Elliot Embleton has been impressing during his loan spell at League Two Grimsby Town and the Mariners are keen to keep hold of him once his loan deal expires in January.
Grimsby manager Michael Jolley spoke to the Grimsby Telegraph about Embleton and explained that he has discussed his future with both Kevin Ball and Jack Ross:
Kevin Ball came down to see us and see Elliot a few weeks ago, and we had a really good conversation with Kevin at that time.
I’ve also spoken with Jack Ross, so both sides are aware of what the situation is - we continue to monitor it, and let’s see what happens over the next few weeks.
I think Elliot Embleton’s a really good player – he’s done well for us, and we value him highly.
Basingstoke forward on trial
Sunderland have taken Sam Smart of non-league outfit Basingstoke Town on trial, with the youngster featuring for the under-23s in their 3-1 defeat by Middlesbrough last night.
The ‘lightning quick’ forward did his chances no harm with a promising display which included winning a penalty that was subsequently missed by the returning Duncan Watmore.
Smart only featured for Basingstoke at the weekend as he again won a penalty in their 1-1 draw with Torquay United in the FA Trophy, but was substituted near the end of normal time and the Devon club went on to win 5-3 on penalties.
We are all wishing @SamSmart98 the very best of luck with his trial for @SunderlandAFC this evening.

Rosicky hoping to convince former Sunderland forward
Ex-Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky has spoken to David Moberg-Karlsson to sell a move to Sparta Prague to the former Sunderland forward.
The Czech club and IFK Norrpoking are said to have agreed terms on Sunday night according to a report in the Czech press but as of yesterday, the Swedish club had not confirmed that rumour.
Rosicky is said to have helped convince the 24-year-old to join Sparta, with Moberg Karlsson talking about the rumoured move:
I’m not in a situation where Real Madrid representatives and similar clubs will be pounding on my door. The Czech league for Swedish media and fans is not very sexy, but I think it would be another gradual step forward in my career. I certainly would not argue.
There are a number of great clubs in the Czech Republic. Pilsen plays the Champions League, Slavia with Jablonec European League. Sparta has had a lot of European success, it’s a great club. In my eyes, the best Czech clubs are on a higher level than Swedish elite.
