Loan roundup
Elliot Embleton was the star as Grimsby Town made it through to the second round of the FA Cup after a 3-1 home win over MK Dons.
After a lacklustre first half by Grimsby, in which the visitors took the lead through Kieran Agard, Embleton took the game by the scruff of the neck.
Just five minutes into the second half, Embleton got the ball on the edge of the Dons box, cut inside and curled a shot into the top corner to equalise. Not long later the Sunderland loanee got the ball out wide and whipped it in, and Wes Thomas took a touch, swivelled and hit a shot on the turn to give the hosts the lead.
It was left to Charles Vernam to finish the scoring off as Grimsby qualified for the second round for the first time since they returned to the Football League.
You can watch highlights of Grimsby’s win over the MK Dons on the BBC website HERE.
Luke Molyneux came on with 25 minutes remaining and with his side Gateshead 2-1 down away to League One outfit Rochdale. Unfortunately the National League side couldn’t find another goal against the higher ranked opponents.
Sartori strikes deal, talks football
Although he is expected to officially announce his run for the National Party’s candidate for president of Uruguay, that has not stopped Juan Sartori doing business deals and attending football matches.
Sartori closed a share exchange between his Union Acquisition Corp. and Bioceres, which will see the latter provide it’s agricultural solutions business in exchange for shares in UAC. The transaction is expected to produce a merged company with an initial planned business value of approximately £351 million.
He also attended the final game of the Segunda B Nacional (third tier) season as Colon became champions and were promoted after 5-4 penalty shoot-out win over Bella Vista, when the game finished 1-1 after extra time.
After the game, Sartori congratulated the champions on their win and talked about Sunderland achieving the same feat as Colon and the possibility of investing in Uruguayan football:
What I like about the weekend is to find a good match. This game was spectacular, had rain, extra time, penalties and saves. The truth is that was exciting. Sunderland is in the third division, trying to go up to the second, so let’s wait in a few months to be in the same situation as Colon.
The talent we have here is extraordinary, we have to try to give more possibilities, to generate better contacts to raise this industry.
The Sunderland board member said he will attend the Clasico between Penarol and Nacional but refused to be drawn on his political ambitions:
No! Today let’s talk about football, not about other things. To talk about politics, there is going to be a time.

Moberg Karlsson in demand
Former Sunderland forward David Moberg Karlsson is currently in the middle of a successful spell with IFK Norrkoping, as he picked up 13 goals and seven assists in the 2018 Allsvenskan season.
That has led to other teams showing interest, with the player admitting to aftonbladet.se that he is keen to have a career abroad, despite the Sunderland moving not working out:
Sunderland was a failure because I could not play. But now that I’ve come here and it’s been so good, I see it more like an experience than a mistake.
Had I been in Sweden, maybe I would have made the same mistake if I had moved away for the first time now instead.
I’m ready to go abroad again if the right time comes. I will not jump on the first and best train just to get away again. I have a lot of confidence here, I play a lot, it’s a good club and nice teammates. It’s not a bad thing to belong to IFK Norrköping.
Moberg Karlsson’s contract expires in 2019 and he was asked whether there were plans for a contract extension:
No, not really. Norrköping does not want players who are just happy to be here. There was a clear thought behind my wish that I would have the ambition to return abroad.
It’s a little hard to talk about the future now because I’m living in to the match against Häcken so damn much. I know this is something I have to decide on. Had we not had anything to play for that, I would probably have been much more in those thoughts.
If IFK Norrköping wants to get well paid for me, it’s time to sell me with a year left.
His agent Per Jonsson admitted that his client is likely to move on in the January transfer window.
We are looking at a sale in January and Norrköping is aware that David wants to go abroad again.
According to fotbolldirekt.se, that move may see the forward returning to English shores with Championship clubs - as well as teams in the Eredivisie - showing interest.
