If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.
Jack Rodwell’s pre-arranged trial with Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem, which was supposed to start today, has been cancelled due to “organisational issues”, the Dutch club have revealed.
The 26-year old was expected in Holland today in order to train with the Chelsea feeder club, but it would appear that the move is over before it even had a chance to get started.

It was with intrigue, then, that former Skysports writer Peter O’Rourke revealed this morning that Sunderland have proposed a swap deal between Leeds United goalkeeper Andy Lonergan and ‘a mystery player’ - a move first touted by ourselves here at Roker Report on Monday afternoon.
Is it possible that the player in question could be Jack Rodwell?
In the piece, written for Football Insider, O’Rourke claims “a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Leeds have brought up the possible swap deal after Sunderland made enquiries about Lonergan’s availability.”
It’s known that O’Rourke has good connections in the game with agents, and he was the first writer to reveal that Sunderland would be signing Lewis Grabban in the summer from Bournemouth.
Pure speculation on my part, of course, but the sudden cancellation of the former Manchester City-man’s proposed trial with Vitesse will of course set tongues wagging.
What ‘organisational issue’ could have possibly led to Rodwell opting not to head across to Holland in order to train with Henk Fraser’s side?
We wait with baited breath. What is clear, however, is that he’s going nowhere anytime soon.
