Roker Riches: Week #7 - What to put your money on as SAFC look for their first home win

As Sunderland look for their first home win of the season, do our gamblers feel confident enough to put money on them doing so?

Danny Roberts

Not a great deal of success for the gamblers this week. The only winners were Tom Atkinson and Dan Parker, who both had bets revolving around both teams scoring in SAFC’s game against Hull.

In a way, we were all winners because of James Vaughan scoring against Hull. Last week, the banker pledged to give every player a free £5 accumulator on this weekends Bundesliga if Vaughan bagged his first Sunderland goal. Will the pundits play it safe and use the free money for a small gain or will they use the risk-free bet to throw caution to the wind?

In other news, Walshie didn’t get his bets in on time so incurs a £5 penalty. We don’t care if he was too busy enjoying himself in New York, rules are rules. Bad news for Graham as well, his two losses last week have seen him plunge into minus figures.

The Table...

The Bankers Bonus...

If Sunderland manage to win their first home game of the season against Cardiff City, the banker will give every player a £10 correct score bet on next weeks Premier League clash between Chelsea and Manchester City.

Our Picks...

Gav - @Gav1879

James Vaughan to score 1st - 13/2: Yes, I’m mental. Let’s see if the big fella has got it in him to score his second league goal of the season - hopefully he’s brimming with self-confidence. £5 returns £37.50.

Wolves, Luton, Alloa & Rotherham: My free fiver is going on four home favourites. Here’s hoping I can get further ahead with a decent win. £5 returns £31.50.

Rory - @RoryFallow

Sunderland to win against Cardiff, both teams to score - 9/2: I’m not overly optimistic, I must admit but Cardiff have stuttered a little bit lately. Hopefully McManaman getting fitter and McGeady potentially coming back will give us the edge. £5 returns £27.50.

Leicester City & Manchester City to win: Considering Leicester have just beaten Liverpool in midweek, 3/1 is a very good price for them to do it all again. I’ll bump the odds a little bit with a safe bet of Man City to overcome Crystal Palace. £5 returns £22.86.

Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke & Mainz to win: For my £5 Bundesliga free hit I’m just going to back the four teams I’ve seen play live. Simple. £5 returns £54.56.

Connor Bromley - @connorbromley

Sunderland to beat Cardiff: We have to win at home one day? And fellow Roker Report writer James Copley has family from Cardiff - so this is a derby for him. So I have to back the lads to win. £5 returns £14.38.

Crystal Palace to beat Man City: Call me stupid - but I just have this feeling that Palace will beat Man City at the weekend. City are blowing everyone away - Palace haven’t even scored yet - but there is something very Sunderland-y about Palace these days. Sunderland had a great record v Man City back in the day. Hey presto - Palace win. £1 returns £19.

Stuttgart/Augsburg draw, Hoffenheim & Mainz/Berlin draw: Everyone will put Bayern and Dortmund on - so I am not. Real Madrid can’t beat Real Betis therefore banker accumulators just aren’t worth while. So my treble here goes with two draws and a home win. £5 returns £124.31.

Graham - @AsylumDoors

Sunderland & Cardiff draw: I let my wife choose this one; I think she chose draw because she thinks we’re shit and we’ll lose but didn’t want to disapoint me, so said a draw. Respect. £2 returns £6.40.

Sixfold on West Ham, Fulham, Hull, Brighton, Burnley and Watford all to win: Shit or bust. I let my wife choose this lot as well. I am confident, as she can’t be worse than I’ve been so far. £5 returns £3,494.06.

Bayern, Dortmund and Bremen treble: I took charge of this one and I’m hoping to snatch a cheeky £13.60 from a fiver.

Danny - @DJRoberts22

Sunderland to win: I don't fancy our chances on Saturday, but, I never do. However, our home luck has to change soon, surely? A Sunderland win is priced at 15/8 on Dafabet, so a punt of £3 will see me return £8.63.

Feyenoord, Roma, Lyon an Genk to win: My Acca this week will be Feyenoord, Roma, Lyon and Genk all to win. £10 returns £29.95.

Bayern, Hannover, RB Leipzig and Dortmund to win: For my free Bundesliga bet, I'll punt for Bayern, Hannover, RB Leipzig and Dortmund to pick up the three points in their respective games. A free £5 stake will give me a return of £26.11.

Tom - @Tommyakki

Cardiff to win - 6/4: Sorry guys... I’m not feeling confident. £5 returns £12.50.

Fivefold accumulator: Everton, Burnley, Manchester City, Manchester United and Spurs. Come at me. £5 returns £35.91.

Dan Parker - @DGP202

I have no faith at all in my Sunderland bet this week but have been suckered in by Dafabet’s Price Boost. Sunderland to be winning at HT and FT is now 17/4 and I will put £2 on that. On the off chance we pull something surprising out of the hat. £2 on Sunderland HT and FT at 17/4 returns £10.50.

My non-Sunderland bet is a 7 team acca based in the UK. I’m going for wins for Wolves, Arsenal, Spurs, Man Utd, Man City, Burnley, and Everton. £5 on 7 team acca returns £137.76.

For my Bundesliga free-bet acca (thanks Vaughan), I’m going for Bayern, Bayer Leverkusen, Hannover, Bremen, and Dortmund all to win. Let’s make it happen eh lads. Free £5 bet on Bundesliga acca returns £63.12.

Walshie - @Walshie409

It’s been firmly established that I am utterly shit at betting so watch as I throw more money down the drain.

Sunderland v Cardiff - BTTS: I’ve lost every time I’ve bet on Sunderland so I’m looking forward an infuriating/encouraging 0-0 to render this bet completely pointless. £2 returns £3.66.

Everton, Man City and Burnley treble: A north-west trio to wallop whatever southern jobbers (and Huddersfield) they are playing. £2 returns £8.58.

Bayern Munich, Hannover, Hoffenheim and Dortmund four-fold: BONUS BUNDESLIGA BET. Aye, these are all doing canny well so should all win...in theory. £5 returns £39.
