Seb Larsson has been a free agent since his Sunderland contract expired at the end of June and shortly after Simon Grayson took charge news leaked that he would not be following John O’Shea’s example and signing a new contract at the club.
Although the 32-year-old has since been linked with moves to clubs from Turkey, China, Spain, Saudi Arabia, it appears he will be facing Sunderland at some point this season as Swedish media outlet Expressen are reporting that he is about to sign for an unnamed Championship side.
Despite the club in question not being named, Hull City have been linked with the Swede in recent days, while a move to the likes of Aston Villa with Steve Bruce in charge and his old club Birmingham who are managed by Harry Redknapp would also make sense.
Meanwhile, Expressen are also reporting that Sunderland are negotiating with Hammerby over the sale of young Swedish left back Oscar Krusnell. The 18-year-old joined the club from AIK Stockholm in 2015, shortly after the arrival of Joel Asoro but hasn’t been able to follow the striker’s progression to the fringes of the first team. Krusnell, who has the same agent as Larsson, is currently under contract at Sunderland until 2019.
Finally, reports in Italy suggest Sunderland are interested in Inter Milan’s Italian international centre back Andrea Ranocchia. calciomercato claim that both us and Southampton are interested in signing the 29-year-old who excelled in the second half of last season, while on loan at Hull City and despite their relegation. Although the report claims no offer is imminent from either club, Ranocchia has turned down a move to Genoa in the hopes of returning to England.
