Sunderland have tonight confirmed the signing of Marc Wilson from AFC Bournemouth on a free transfer that sees him sign a one-year deal.
Wilson, 30, has barely featured since signing for the Cherries last summer and spent half of last season on loan at West Brom, where he only made three starts before returning back to the South coast club frustrated by the lack of football he had played.
The Republic of Ireland international is famed for his versatility and can operate in the centre of defence, at right back or in midfield - flexibility which will suit Sunderland manager Simon Grayson as he strives to find his strongest side now that the transfer window has came to a close.
