Brendan Rodgers side are in the midst of a Champions League qualifying round with a second leg to be completed against Rosenborg on Wednesday night but fielded a decent starting eleven.

Player Ratings

Steele, 2/10 - Awful start to his Sunderland career. The only way is up from here I suppose.

Jones, 4/10 - Looked uncomfortable. One decent run up the right aside he had a bad afternoon.

Kone, 2/10 - Complete balls up for their first goal and not much better for the second. A few boos when he went off.

Browning, 5/10 - The better of the four defenders but to give him some leeway, he was playing next to a complete donkey.

Galloway, 4/10 - Again unconvincing at left back.

Khazri, 7/10 - withdrawn on 25 with a knock. Looked lively popping up across the front line.

Cattermole, 6/10 - Put the graft in but there's only so much he can do.

NDong, 5/10 - Struggled to keep up with Celtic's energetic midfield.

McGeady, 5/10 - Barely in the game.

Grabban, 7/10 - One of the more impressive players on the pitch. Was unlucky not to score in the first half.

Vaughan, 4/10 - Missed another poorly taken penalty and then failed to put away the rebound. Desperate for a goal to get him going.

Honeyman, 6/10 - Alright I suppose. Came on for Khazri and didn't really let himself down.

O'Shea, 5/10 - Slow.

Asoro, 6/10 - Didn't do much of note.

Matthews, 6/10 - Wasn't on long enough to impact the game.

Gibson, 6/10 - Wasn't on long enough to impact the game.
